Developing methods of measuring quality of health care

Measuring the quality of care in order to design, introduce and maintain improvements is a major focus of most health care systems today. Members of the CCHSR have previously been involved in the development of quality indicators for the UK Quality and Outcomes Framework, and in the national GP Patient Survey, currently sent to 2.7 million NHS patients a year. We are continuing this strand with a major programme of work on advancing methods to measure patient experience in primary care, with a particular focus on how assessments of patient experience can be used to drive improvements in care.
