We are absolutely delighted to announce that Prof Mary Dixon-Woods will be taking up the RAND Professorship of Health Services Research at the University of Cambridge. She is joining us from the University of Leicester, where she has led the SAPPHIRE research group in the Department of Health Sciences, overseeing an influential programme of research with a particular focus on quality and safety in healthcare.
Mary is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences, Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, and a Wellcome Trust Senior Investigator. Such accomplishments are only to be expected from someone taking up this role, of course, as she follows Prof Martin Roland, whose rather impressive research record and accomplished leadership has had such a huge impact on health care internationally. Mary will take over Martin’s role as co-Director of CCHSR (with Jon Sussex at RAND), and will be working closely together with Martin until his retirement in August 2016.
Watch this space: we’re all very excited.
